I was born and raised in the Bronx. Both of my parents were Scots, and I spent many summers as a kid in Scotland. In recent years I have served on the committee that plans the Long Island Highland Games and Scottish Festival at Old Westbury Gardens.
 


 

I was received into the Episcopal Church as a priest in 2002 after receiving a Master’s in Sacred Theology from the General Seminary of the Episcopal Church. I have been a diocesan Canon and have served as Executive Director of Episcopal Community Services Long Island for the past 10 years. During that time I have also served as Vicar of the churches of St. Lawrence of Canterbury in Dix Hills and Resurrection in Richmond Hill. After writing the proposal for its creation, I was appointed a diocesan missioner for the Great Neck Episcopal Ministries, uniting three congregations, two English speaking and one Korean. In the Great Neck Ministries my main responsibilities were strategic planning, working with the teenage youth group and celebrating the multi-media youth Mass. I also took twenty teens on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic.

As a member of the Third Order of the Society of St. Francis, I have taught the friars at Little Portion Friary and conducted retreats in Franciscan Spirituality, methods of prayer and vestry retreats.  I hold an M.A. in Historical Research in Franciscan Studies from the Franciscan Institute of St. Bonaventure’s University, as well as graduate degrees in theology and law.

I love walking, visiting museums, and spending time with friends and my two Yorkies, Bogart and Kate. On Shelter Island I hope to reacquaint myself with the joys of bike riding, continue my bonsai hobby, learn kayaking, and grow in my newly acquired skill of icon writing. I look forward to becoming a part of the Shelter Island community, sharing together with St. Mary’s family God’s mission in this special place.
